African Health Observatory Platform (AHOP, Nigeria)
An online platform and a one-stop shop for health information, established to improve the availability of evidence for decision making at various levels. AHOP is supported by the WHO, European Observatory, London School of Economics and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to:
- Help assemble data from different sources, store them in a place, and make them openly accessible
- Provide a platform for engaging with key actors (owners of data) on data sharing
- Help strengthen skills for analysis and synthesis of health data through training, technical assistance and involvement of academic institutions
Deliverables from AHOP will help strengthen health system capacities in Nigeria with focus on the six building blocks (Governance, Service Delivery, Health Financing, Health Workforce, Medicines and Technologies, Health Management Information System) including Universal Health Coverage, provide evidence for policy making, and improve health indicators.
